MLA In Training
Individuals aspiring to become MLA’s must possess the fundamental knowledge necessary for professional practice. Therefore the prerequisites for obtaining a provisional license, effective November 18, 2025, will include the following and will apply to all applicants who submit their applications after that date.
- Successful completion of all five theory courses (official letter from Program that this has been completed)
- Proof of Professional Liability Insurance of $2,000,000
- Proposed employer's intent to hire letter
- Completed Acknowledgement of Supervision form
- Evidence of NSCMLT English language requirements (refer to the English Language Proficiency policy)
- Canadian government issued photo identification (Canadian birth certificate, Canadian passport, proof of landed immigrant resident status, or copy of a valid work permit)
- Copy of criminal records check (CRC)/ vulnerable sector check (VSC)
NSCMLT may issue a provisional license for the MLA in Training to complete their clinical placement until they write the next available MLA national entry to practice exam if all other requirements are met.
