All complaints* or discipline issues regarding a NSCMLT member are to be directed initially to the Registrar.

Complaints or discipline issues are required to be written, and a signature provided. Upon receipt of the written complaint, the Registrar shall review the information and if deemed appropriate, shall direct the information to the Investigation Committee. Responding to complaints about the professional conduct of a licensed medical laboratory technologist is one way the NSCMLT meets its mandate of protecting the public. Please refer to the section of the Medical Laboratory Technology Act regarding reporting to the NSCMLT (Section 44 Manner of Initiation) and refer to the College’s Code of Professional Conduct and Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice.
*Definition: Complaint means any complaint, report or allegation in writing and signed by a person regarding the conduct, actions, competence, character, fitness, health or ability of a member of the College, former member of the College, professional corporation or the employees thereof, or any similar complaint, report or allegation initiated by the Registrar or referred pursuant to subsection 50(2).
