Molecular Duties

NSCMLT Position Statement regarding Molecular Duties and NSCMLT Members who were issued a Practicing Restricted or Non-Practicing Restricted License prior to Dec 31, 2004 with NSCMLT.

NSCMLT members who were issued either a Practicing Restricted or Non-Practicing Restricted License prior to Dec 31, 2004 with NSCMLT and who perform or have performed molecular diagnostics in one or more disciplines in Medical Laboratory Technology, are restricted to practice molecular diagnostics only, in any discipline in Medical Laboratory Technology in the province of Nova Scotia. The member must have maintained continuous membership, adhere to NSCMLT policies* that are relevant to the member and notify NSCMLT in the prescribed manner**, prior to performing molecular diagnostics in the new discipline.

* e.g. NSCMLT Return to Practice Policy

** Specific information is required by the individual: letter from employer on official letterhead indicating the MLT will be performing molecular diagnostics in a specified discipline(s) is required to be submitted to NSCMLT.
